New York City Food Tour

Like I mentioned in my previous post Jason and I did a food tour of the Chelsea Market/Meatpacking District while we were in New York. We did another food tour of Greenwich Village last year and loved it so we were really excited for the chance to do another one. The guides that lead the different tours are certified tour guides and very knowledgeable. On our tour we learned about the history of the market  as we tasted our way through the 112 year old historic building. In addition to the market our guide took us to the "High Line", an outdoor elevated park with views of the Hudson, and a walk through the Meatpacking District, where we ended the tour with a sit down tasting at one of the local restaurants. Here are some of the places we saw on our tour along with some of the foods we tasted.

Red Velvet Cupcake

We tasted the chocolate milk

We sampled two different meats, fresh mozzarella cheese, artichoke spread, sun dried tomatoes, and olives on a roll from Amy's Bread
Check out the price of the black and white truffles per oz. We did NOT sample these.

 Guinness Steak and Mushroom Pie

Homemade biscuits with mixed berry and strawberry jam

Garganelli with oxtail ragu

This was a great tour and not only did we walk away with a full belly but we had a new appreciation for the Chelsea Market and the Meatpacking District. Both areas are completely different now then what they used to be and it was fun to hear about the histories of both areas. If you are interested in learning more about the Foods of New York Tours and would like more information here is the website.
